LEAD MEDICAL ASSISTANT
The daily operations of the clinics are the responsibility of the Primary Care Service Managers. To support these efforts and in order to maintain efficiency a Lead Medical Assistant will act in accordance with the PCSM direction and oversight.
Essential Functions:
Specific Responsibilities

Support staffing needs and daily assignments per PCSM direction.

Assist PCSM with ensuring all staff are taking their breaks and lunches on time and schedules are covered appropriately.

Assist PCSM with supporting communication between front and back office
Front Office Oversight
-
Assist PCSM with ensuring front office staff provides excellent customer service which include telephone etiquette, empathetic in-person communication, and problem solving.

Support front office tasks as necessary, which includes answering telephones, patient registration, capturing demographics, scheduling appointments, supporting pre-flow, and general operational patient-flow.
Back Office Support

Assist PCSM by ensuring pre-flow efforts are being executed in a timely manner. This includes Forms, SHA, ER records, referral reports, labs, signed documents and other related pre-flow items.

Assist PCSM with ensuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed and entered.

Assist PCSM with ensuring proper Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions are being used and enforced.

Assist PCSM with ensuring that specialty clinics are being properly scheduled and filled; DRS, IZZ, DM, Well Child/CHDP and Annual Female Physical.

Assist PCSM with ensuring efficient patient flow.

Ensure medical equipment is in good working order, and logs are maintained and updated accordingly.

Assist PCSM with ensuring inventory levels are appropriate and maintained, and exam room are stocked.

Monitor assigned patient list from (CCAH, HPJS, Health Net etc.) and support scheduling needs.

Assist PCSM with ensuring patient concerns are communicated/escalated as appropriate.

Assist PCSM with ensuring proper postings are placed in accordance with local/state/federal law.

Assist PCSM with ensuring LCH policy and procedures are being followed and applied.

Participate in training and educational sessions including but not limited to Health Coaching, MA Competency training, and Specialty training.

Able to support Nursing as needed

Other task and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
-
Current California State Registered Dental Assistant Certification.
-
Completion of accredited course in dental assisting and minimum one-year experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.

Current Coronal polish and Sealant certificates preferred.

Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

High School Diploma or GED.
-
California Radiation Safety Certificate.

BLS (CPR) Certification required.

Requires a comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient settings.

Computer literacy required; familiarity with the use of clinical software and Microsoft Windows.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively in both English and Spanish (preferred).

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely communicates verbally and on a face to face basis with others.
Typical Physical Demands:
Requires standing/walking for up to 30% to 60% at a time, sitting for up to 30% to 60% at a time, lifting and carrying 0% to 20% at a time, lifting or carrying of up to 40 pounds 0% to 5% at a time, reaching 30% to 70 % at a time, bending and stooping 30% to 80 % at a time, squatting/crouching 5% to 15 % at a time, handling/grasping 25% to 80% at a time.
