PHYSICIAN

The Family Nurse Practitioner is primarily responsible for providing medical services to patients of Livingston Community Health.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Current valid State of California license to practice medicine.
     

  2. Board Certification highly desirable.
     

  3. Current CPR and ACLS Certification.
     

  4. Interested practicing in a community clinic setting.
     

  5. Authoritative knowledge of the principles, practice, and techniques in the physician’s specialty.

Essential Functions:

  1. The Physician shall deliver direct patient care, at least 40 hours during a normal workweek.
     

  2. The Physician shall adhere to a minimum standard of 6,200 patient encounters annually per full time equivalent or a minimum of 22 patients per day in a 40 hour week (5 days). 
     

  3. Adheres to the highest standards of medical ethics at all times.
     

  4. Assists the Chief Medical Officer in establishing medical policies, evaluating existing policies and developing changes in policies as necessary.
     

  5. Requires attendance and all requested participation in medical Staff Meetings, Continuous Quality Improvement Meetings and Leadership Meetings.
     

  6. Share Saturdays with other providers as needed, at least once a month.
     

  7. Share telephone on-call with other clinicians, abiding by coverage practices decided by consensus and documented by the Director of Primary Care Services.
     

  8. Establish and maintains affiliations and/or courtesy/privileges with Mercy Community Medical Center and Emanuel Medical Center.
     

  9. Becomes a member of the local Medical Society; may represent LCH in professional groups.
     

  10. Serve as Physician’s Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner’s supervisor if requested to do so, or intermittently as preceptor to medical students, on an individual basis.  This must be approved by the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Medical Officer, prior to accepting a student.
     

  11. Conform thoroughly to the current clinical protocols and Principles of Practice, abide by scheduling decisions made by the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operation Officer, and Director of Primary Care Services and recommended by the Board of Directors.
     

  12. Clinicians other general or Family Practitioners may work predominantly in their specialties, but must be prepared to act as general practitioner as required due to patient demand or volume and after hour coverage.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has direct oversight of the Physician’s Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner on duty, as directed. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely communicates verbally and on a face to face basis with others.

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires standing/walking for up to 30% to 60% at a time, sitting for up to 30% to 60% at a time, lifting and carrying 0% to 20% at a time, lifting or carrying of up to 40 pounds 0% to 5% at a time, reaching 30% to 70 % at a time, bending and stooping 30% to 80 % at a time, squatting/crouching 5% to 15 % at a time, handling/grasping 25% to 80% at a time.

Travel

Travel is primarily locally during the business day.
